Med-Scribe, Inc. is seeking a reliable, task-oriented, and self-directed candidate for an administrative level position. This position is anticipated to last approximately 12-16 weeks!

Our client blends both legal and medical arenas in the service of our country through federal and state government contracts.  In this role, your primary job duties will be processing all incoming medical records and examining the case files to ensure all relevant information has been submitted. You will be responsible for contacting the appropriate parties for further documentation/clarification if needed, and ensure the cases are being assigned to the appropriate reviewer.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Salary: Paid hourly package: $22.45/hour (Hourly wage: $17.97/hour + Fringe Benefit: $4.48/hour)

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED Required, Associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience working in medical review environment preferred
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in healthcare or legal-related field preferred
  • Experience with Workers Compensation or Medicare Regulations, guidelines and coverage issues preferred.
  • Experience handling inquiries, complaints, and issues
  • Experience with medical necessity or UR determinations at any level within healthcare preferred
  • Knowledge of scope of practices for all types of medical professionals
  • Competent problem-solving and analysis skills
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of MS outlook, word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment
  • Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently with minimal supervisor
  • Ethical conduct and strategic thinking abilities

For 40 years, our client has partnered with federal, state and local governments to make public health insurance programs run effectively for the individuals and families they serve.  They are the national leader in providing government health plan enrollees and providers with independent appeal decisions of health insurance denials.

Many of our nurses find a case review to be an intellectually rewarding position and welcome an added dimension to their clinical activities.  In this role, your duties will include reviewing and evaluating proposed Medicare set-aside arrangements to determine if the proposed settlement meets the requirements established for beneficiaries and potential beneficiaries. You will then render a medical/clinical determination based on professional experience. This is a deadline-driven environment.  Strong analytical and writing skills are required.

Days/Hours:  Full time, temp to hire. Monday through Friday: an 8-hour shift between 8:00 am – 5:30 pm. 40 hours per week. Potential to work some hours from home once hired on permanently

Salary: $27/hour.  Benefits available.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. You must have a valid NYS Nursing license. 3 years of related work experience required. Medical/Utilization Review experience preferred. Medicare Set-Aside Arrangement experience highly preferred. Experience with ICD 9/10 Codes, CPT Codes, and exposure to applying actual costs/workers compensation fee schedules preferred. Knowledge in Medicare Coverage guidelines, pharmacology, clinical practice guidelines, Utilization Review Standards and practices, state-specific workers’ compensation guidelines and pricing structure helpful.

Many of our nurses find a case review to be an intellectually rewarding position and welcome an added dimension to their clinical activities.  In this role, your primary responsibility will be to act as a third-party reviewer and issue a decision regarding medical necessity determinations.  This is a deadline-driven environment.  Strong analytical and writing skills are required.

Days/Hours:  Full time, temp to hire. Monday through Friday: an 8-hour shift between 8:00 am – 5:30 pm. 40 hours per week. Potential to work some hours from home upon hire.

Salary: $27/hour.  Benefits available.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing required
  • At least 2 or more years’ experience of clinical experience, previous chart review experience a plus!
  • Knowledge of Medicare programs, particularly coverage and payment rules
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and the ability to research utilizing the Internet preferred, including web-based portal
  • RAC or RVC review experience strongly preferred
